in memory or other areas of thinking, it is frightening for the patient and confusing for the family. These changes can happen after an illness, like stroke, chronic poorly controlled diabetes, of the early stages of dementia.

I work as part of a team with the treating neurologist and primary care physician. My job on the team is to provide a full assessment revealing the patient's strengths and weaknesses. From there, I can frequently provide some understanding of where the brain damage may lie. The neurologist will use that information, in combination with information from imaging studies and other medical tests, to devise a treatment plan.

Typically, I will re-assess the patient each year to measure any additional decline.

I am always available to provide support to the patient and family, as needed.
